Introduction:
UK Trading Standard office studied the safety of LUOTO climbing arch version 1 during 10/24 - 2/25.
Concerns: There were two concerns listed by UK Trading Standard office, pinching/crushing risk and falling between the top rungs. The pinching risk appears when using the product as a climbing arch. In this position there is a risk of leaving toes or fingers underneath the arch. The falling between the rungs may appear when a thin child falls between the top rungs and doesn’t reach to touch to the ground. Based on the anthropometric data Childata, Institute for Occupational Ergonomics, University of Nottingham indicates that age up to 14 months may pass trough this gap.
Actions to mitigate the concerns: To minimize the risk of pinching, the rocker should only be used with the KAURA cushion and placed on a soft carpet. Additionally, there are newly designed felt pads available for the product.
To mitigate the risk of falling between the top rungs, it is important to follow instructions manuals age limit +2 years old. Secondly the solution of mitigating the risk is either to use KAURA cushion or a blanket as showcased below around the top rungs when in a climbing position.

Instructions for placing a blanket or KAURA cushion between the top rungs:
